Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a car wash and a detail?
A: A car wash only removes the large debris, grime, and dirt that has not etched its way into the paint yet. A basic wash cleans only the surface of the car and often strips the protective coat of wax that was last applied to the paint. Car washes do not remove above surface contaminates or depressions in the clear coat, they only remove what you can see and do not correct paint imperfections.
A detail is a thorough cleaning and full restoration of all the surfaces on a vehicle. Detailing removes all contaminates in the paint, levels the clear coat to a perfectly smooth finish, removes swirls and scratches, reconditions all plastic, vinyl, rubber, and leather. A full detail consists of a basic car wash followed by *claybar, compound if there is heavy damage, polish to level the paint and restore shine, and sealant to protect the finish. All surfaces are protected and wheels and tires are
cleaned and restored completely. An interior detail consists of cleaning all surfaces,
shampooing all carpets and upholstery, cleaning and conditioning all leather, and
sealing all panels including doors, dash, doorjams, and trim. After a full interior
detail all stains, odors, and dirt are eliminated. The car is left immaculate and
maintains the look and feel more easily with regular maintenance.

Q: How often should I wash my car?
A: It is recommended to wash your vehicle once a week to minimize constant damaging contaminants such as fallout and acid rain, bird and insect droppings, tree sap etc. which damage your paint over time. A car wash is only effective if the paint is in new condition, and only proper washing is effective. We offer maintenance wash packages at reasonable prices to keep your car looking great.

Q: I wash my car regularly but the paint does not feel smooth. Why?
A: Washing your car regularly will only remove the soil you can see. The rough film you can feel on the paint is a combination of oxidation and damaging contaminants bonding to your paint. This rough feeling can only be removed with thorough detailing.

Q: What is oxidation?
A: Oxidation is when the UV rays of the sun deteriorate unprotected paint causing it to fade; becoming thin and chalky looking over time. This an especially big problem in Florida where the UV levels are high and the salt content in the air deteriorates the protective sealant more quickly. It is important to wash and protect your finish often to insure longevity of your paint job.

Q: How do I protect my car from damaging contaminants and oxidation?
A: You would have to leave your car under a cover and locked away in a garage to protect your car from damaging contaminants and oxidation. Alternatively, prevention with a regular maintenance program of washing, polishing and protecting the paint with a coat of either a wax or polymer sealant is the only solution.

Q: What is the difference between a polish and a wax or polymer sealant?
A: Polish actually removes a thin portion of the clear coat to enhance your paint. Polish will remove light oxidation and very fine scratches while enhancing the gloss of the paint but does not have any protective properties. In order to protect the shine and finish of the paint, a polish should always be followed with either a wax, which is made from natural Carnauba Wax, or a polymer sealant, which is a synthetic product usually produced from a silicon base.

Q: How often should I wax my car?
A: You should apply a wax or sealant every 2-4 months, depending on the circumstances; this will maintain the sacrificial barrier to repel contaminants and damage from the elements.

Q: My car has faded (oxidized) paint. Is it too late to protect it?
A: It is only too late is there is no paint left on the car that has single stage paint or clear coat on a car with 2 state paint. There is a multi-step process that is used to bring your paint back to its like-new shine. First, the damaged clearcoat is leveled with a cutting compound. Second, a polishing compound is used  to smooth the paint and maximize the clarity of the paint. Finally, a coat of wax or sealant is applied to protect and lock in the perfected paint.
